The Romanian Government has recently added 2 more public holidays to the existing 10. These are the 24th of January (celebration of the Union of the 2 Romanian regions, Moldavia and Valachia, realized on the 24th of January 1856) and the 1st of June, celebrated as Child’s Day.

All in all, there are now 12 public holidays according to Romanian labour law :

In case one of the days above has been a working day for an employee, the Romanian Labour Code stipulates that he / she is entitled to two days-off (in the account of one public holiday) or, if not possible, being paid double the salary for that specific day.
